A) reads that the MACHO would sometimes lie in a direct line between two stars. While this is probable, it's not mentioned in the passage. The passage states that a MACHO would drift in front a star, allowing an astronomer to observe the effect of the MACHO on the light of that star. So the theory isn't saying the MACHO would lie between two stars, but rather between a star and us on earth.

The answer is B.

Lines 4-7: MACHO's occasionally drift in the front of a large star. This causes the star to occasionally brighten.

Option B: rehash of the above statement.

I think A is never discussed in the passage.
