One week to go.. scared!

by melguy » Mon Sep 02, 2013 8:52 pm
Hello All

I have just 1 week to go before the actual exam. I would appreciate some tips on how to make the best out of this time frame. I normally score Q 40 and V 34-35 (mostly silly mistakes bring down my score). My target is 640-650 points.

I have broken it down as per below.

3 Sep 13 Quant Wrong questions review (error log)
4 Sep 13 Quant Wrong questions review (error log)
5 Sep 13 Verbal Wrong questions review (error log)
6 Sep 13 CAT
7 Sep 13 RC Practice
8 Sep 13 IR+ essay Practice
9 Sep 13 Travel date (My test center is in a different city)
10 Sep 13 10: 30 AM Exam

I am a bit scared now as the exam date is just round the corner. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

Hey melguy!

Come on you can do it. Just revise and be calm. Don't try to study now.Your plan seems ok. just look at where all you seem to go wrong, concentrate on those aspects and be confident about what u know!
Don't worry. It will be all right.Be confident thats all.

You inspire many people here on this forum.Keep inspiring them.

Also watch some inspiring videos on youtube. Watch some nice funny movies. Chill out.

The real GMAT is wayyy different from whatever you can imagine from everything, which is written or spoken about.

All the best!
You can, for example never foretell what any one man will do, but you can say with precision what an average number will be up to!

Hey melguy,

I've been following your posts for some time now, and you're obviously a smart person. So, I'M confident you'll reach your target score on test day.

The question I have for you is "Are YOU confident you'll reach your target score on test day?" I believe that confidence and, in general, mindset play a HUGE role on test day.
So, I think you should work into your schedule some opportunities to develop a winning mindset. Here are two recommendations to get you started:

The most important thing for you to remember is that you do not have to "hit it out of the park" on test day!!

All you have to do it to do what you know how to do. If you have an average day you will get the score that you are prepared for. You are not relying on doing anything that you have not done before.

It should relax you to know that you are not trying to do anything extraordinary. Just go in there and do what you do.
