Is it okay to chew Chewing gum during the verbal section for keeping mental alertness ?
Would GMAC have no issues with it?
I personally find it stress relieving and keeping me alert,
especially in long RC passages where being a non-native english speaker one tends to get lost!

I'm afraid that they would not allow us chewing gums. Get accustomed to unfavourable/undesirable conditions. It will help you during your actual exam.

He's right- you won't be able to chew gum during the test so you should not chew gum while you are practicing. You should try to practice under circumstances that are as similar to the test environment as possible. This means that you should also not drink water while you are studying (but you can during your breaks). However, you will be provided earplugs during the test so you can use them while you study if you want
