Youtube Videos are slow

The Youtube videos that are recommended for viewing on day1 are too slow. It took me more than 5 minutes to cover a 45 second segment! This is with all the other applications off and a brand new notebook of 3 GB Ram. Please advise ways of improving the video playing speed as I will have to view more and more videos in days to come.
