Please provide explanation to why your option is right and others are not.

A study on couples' retirement transitions found that women who took new jobs after retiring from their primary careers reported high marital satisfaction, more so than those who retired completely.
A. more so than those who retired
B. which was more than if they had retired
C. more than when retiring
D. more than if they were to retire
E. which was more so than those retiring
The powers of two are bloody impolite!!

IMO : A
The sentence wants to convey that women who take new jobs after retirement report high satisfaction levels compared to women who d not take new jobs after retirement.
B->changes the meaning.it says that the women who opted for new jobs reported high satisfaction than when they retired completely
C->Again changes the meaning
D->Change in meaning
E->referrent of which is satisfaction.

A

b] we are comparing between those who retired and took up something else and those who retired completely. If condition is non-sensical.

c] Same explanation as B. You need to compare with those who retired completely.

d] Again, similar to B

e] Incorrect comparison. Which is not required. Else the sentence would be "which was more so than that of those who retired completely"..
Totally redundant..

I originally thought it was A to, but after reading more closely, I think it has to be E. Adding the which to the end doesn't make it incorrect, since the which is modifying satisfaction. A is wrong because of "retired". Earlier in the sentence the present continuing tense was used, and for parallelism purposes, I think you have to use retiring in the comparison. Thus, making E the correct choice. I could be wrong though.
