Although the restaurant company has recently added many new restaurants across the country and its sales have increased dramatically, its sales at restaurants open for more than a year have declined.

I will go with C

in A and B
we need some conector before ",its" at end
like but or something
without it, the options are not looking good to me.....

B has removed one have
so it became past tense
that also is not looking justified here


D
with its sales increasing is not fitting well....

E
having its sales increase, company's sales have decreased ..........
incorrect

It here refers to the restaurant company's sales. Which is clearly wrong. It cant even refer to the new restaurants because new restaurants is plural ( apart from the face that it alters the meaning).

It is definitely A.

Although the restaurant company has recently added many new restaurants across the country and its sales have increased dramatically ===>this is the subordinate cause that can not stand independently

Independent clause ==>
its sales at restaurants open for more than a year have declined.

CDE are out because of modifier reference problem.

Should be 'A'.

C, D, E are awkward constructions.
C being passive, D being awkward with 'Although having...'

E has a modifier problem 'Although recently adding many new restaurants across the country and having its sales increase dramatically' seems to modify company's sales, which is wrong as the action should be performed by company and not company's sales.

Confused between A and B. However would go with A as it seems more parallel and follows present perfect construction all throughout.

It would really help if someone can provide more convincing explanation of A being right over B. Thanks in advance.

But my question is that "its" after comma is a possesive pronoun that is reffering to "the restaurant company" which is a Simple noun.

Although the restaurant company has recently added many new restaurants across the country and its sales have increased dramatically, its sales at restaurants open for more than a year have declined.


But a possesive pronoun can only refer to a possesive noun ..
So, according to this Logic OA is wrong.

Is there something I am missing. Can any one explain.?

I think you said the above statement after taking or reading notes from MH-SC book from Ch-4 (Pronouns). Am I correct?

However, in any case, there is only one mistake in the above statement. That is modifier ONLY. Please again check the MH-SC book, possessive pronoun can refer back to possessive noun. But this doesn't mean that they can not refer back to normal nouns.

I guess CR logic works over here. :D
