How many practice tests did you take?

by TheGuest » Tue Feb 15, 2011 9:20 pm
Hi,

When you prepared for GMAT how many total practice tests did you take? MGMAT has total of 6 tests. After that one can reset them but what's the point if questions repeat?

How many test do you take for practice (overall)?

Thanks,
TheGuest

Hi TheGuest,

This is a subjective question and everyone has their own opinion. I look at GMAT-prep as a 3-step process:

1. learn content areas
2. practice strategy for each Q-type
3. work on pacing

Practice tests, IMO, are used to work on your pacing once you have a good grasp of the content tested and you have strong, effective strategies in place that work for you. I would not start using PT's until you are about halfway through your studies.

6 MGMAT Practice tests and the 2 Powerpreps could very well be enough, but I would make sure you are ready to take them. Work through the MGMAT workbooks, Grockit, the OG, and of course BTG's boards. Value quality of studying versus quantity. It will make a huge difference!

Good luck to you!
