GMAT 800 lowered my confidence

by svishal1123 » Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:37 pm
Hi guys,

I started preparation for GMAT around a month back. With my work schedule often there is not enough time to study. I did a bit of OG and then switched to Kaplan. I completed Kaplan and Princeton. I was doing reasonably good till then. I have not taken any Tests so far. I am planning to start with the tests once I am thorough. Then I started with Kaplan GMAT 800. First section - CR. It was my strongest section in Verbal. I somehow cannot get the questions right. 80% of the answers go wrong. In the other 3 books that I did I would get 90% of the CR right. Is there something wrong with my preparation. Or the book is really tough. The worst part is that I cannot learn anything from the questions. I mean, there is no value add that I can feel. If I get a questions of same difficulty I am sure to go wrong. I am aiming at a score of 750. My math is good. In most of the sections I get almost 100%. SC is weak 80% correct answers and RC is relatively better than SC. I am not really sure where I stand since I have not taken full tests.

Do you think I am going wrong somewhere. I am planning to give up 800. Please guide.

Thanks in advance.

Hi svishal1123

As you have done Kaplan and Princeton, start doing the OG. Also please start taking the practice tests so that you can know where you stand.

Kaplan 800 is supposed to have tough and tricky questions. According to many people it is for those who want to take their scores from 650 to 700+ .

I would suggest you to take a practice test first to know how your preparations are going.

Cheers

Arpan
