soln:
first let us defined the given things:
1973:
let populkation be P
let cigratte consumption be C
chewing tobacco sales =S
per capita consumption== p/c
1976
let populkation be 1.05P
let cigratte consumption after increase will be 1.034C
chewing tobacco sales =S
per capita consumption== 1.05p/1.034c=0.78 p/c
now going by option:
a) not possible as we dont know ablout the cost price and selling price of cigratte
b) per capita consumtion in 176 is lower than in 1973
so this will be answer
c)we font know exact population
d)nothing said abpout profit
e)cant be nothing said about the total number of switcher we just know percent

It just means per person.I didnt understand what per capita meant.
Notice that the population increased by a greater percentage than did cigarette consumption (5 vs 3.4). Thus, per-person (or per capita) cigarette consumption in '76 must be lower than it was in '73.

Explained the way you both just did, the answer is obvious.
