An individual will find it difficult to campaign successfully for public office if there is an absence of support from political action committees.

(A) if there is an absence of support from political action committees

(B) if the support of political action committees is absent

(C) there being an absence of support from political action committees

(D) when political action committee support is absent

(E) without the support of political action committees

the s/c is testing for whether to go for a hypothetical situation or for fact one on reading the s/c carefully its actually stating a fact , its not hypothesizing any thing
keeping that in mind we don't need if so A and B are eliminated
now C is extra passive
and D changes the intended meaning;
only left is E

Would you like to explain how the statement in Question is fact-based and not hypothetical? Isn't future always hypothetical?

Moreover, are these non-hypothetical "if" statements incorrect???

She gets very upset if I exclude her from anything - https://www.thefreedictionary.com/IF

She always gets what she wants, even if she wakes me in the middle of the night for attention

Isn't the current Q testing us on brevity alone? I would like to imagine that "if there is an absence of" may be replaced by a simple "without" else A is good.

Do you think i am missing something?

If we look carefully ,we can't guess whether a question is factual or hyp.
I think this sentence is trying to make us find the best answer.
I think both A and E are correct,but E is better than A

(B) if the support of political action committees is absent - same as A

(C) there being an absence of support from political action committees - Full of redundant words

(D) when political action committee support is absent - When should be used only for TIME & not for any conditional statement

What trips me up is the usage of, "support of" vs. "support from". Can someone confirm whether, idiomatically, the two are interchangeable?
