1. Written in Belgium, the composer of Symphony No. 5 was a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, who many later called the "Father of the Music" for his contribution to music.

(A) the composer of Symphony No. 5 was a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, who many later called the "Father of the Music" for his
(B) ThomasVornle's Symphony No. 5, who many later called the "Father of the Music" for his
(C) Symphony No. 5 was composed by a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, who many later called the "Father of the Music" for his
(D) Symphony No. 5's composer was a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, whom many later called the "Father of the Music for his
(E) Symphony No. 5 was composed by a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, whom many later called the "Father of the Music" for his

I narrowed down to option C or E because of the symphony No.5 correctly modifies 'Written in Belgium'.
I used substitution of 'he' for 'who' and 'him' for 'whom'.But that doesn't make sense here.My question is how do I identify whether who or whom shld be used .

The OA is E

Using a computer model to estimate future productivity, the accuracy of such an estimate is higher than that achieved using other methods.

A. Using a computer model to estimate future productivity
B. By the use of a computer model to estimate future productivity
C. If a computer model is used to estimate future productivity
D. With a computer model for estimating future productivity
E. Estimating future productivity with a computer model

Please help me understand whats wrong with the original sentence and how do I arrive at the answer ?

OA is C.

Thanks in advance.

(D) Symphony No. 5's composer was a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, whom many later called the "Father of the Music for his

==> This means that the "composer, rather than the Symphony, has been written in Belgium".

See the difference:

The book---> It means the book.
The book's writer---> It means a person.

(E) Symphony No. 5 was composed by a brilliant musician, Thomas Vornle, whom many later called the "Father of the Music" for his

Using a computer model to estimate future productivity, the accuracy of such an estimate is higher than that achieved using other methods.

A. Using a computer model to estimate future productivity

==> It means that "the accuracy is using the computer model"

B. By the use of a computer model to estimate future productivity

==> Same as it is in A

C. If a computer model is used to estimate future productivity
D. With a computer model for estimating future productivity

With X, Y--> means Y has X. So, the sentence means that "the accuracy has computer model"

E. Estimating future productivity with a computer model

==> It means that "the accuracy is estimating the future.."

@GMAT_perfect -Thanks for response. In second question do you have an idea how to choose between options C and D.

Also if someone could provide a more detailed explanation of the first question on the use of subject and object pronoun that would be great.

I think first one
Thomas Vornle, who many later called the "Father of the Music
well i think 'whom' -the object form is required here rather than subject form because it is thomas whom people called father of music. If we use who ....that means thomas called someone 'father of music'....It will change meaning of original sentence.

In second one,A and E seem to have modifier problem....
I think B,C,D are gramatically correct.
The reason cited may be they are wordy and C gives clear meaning among them.

thanks
