Sociopaths are distinguished not so much by their aberrant acts but instead by their total lack of remorse for their crimes.

a. but instead
b. than in contrast
c. than
d. as
e. so much as

The idiom used here is so much...as, but i got confused and thought that so much...as is not correct idiom. Can please let me know the correct usage of so much...as in GMAT.
Thanks and Regards,
Varun
