10 days remaining, need help

by shahmau » Sun Dec 17, 2006 11:01 am
Guys,

I have 10 days to make the most before the D-day.

I gave test 4 weeks before and I scored
690 - GMAT Prep
640 - 800 score

Then I could not give any time to GMAT for almost 3 weeks because of tremendous work load

I gave test today
scored
610 - GMAT prep (M 47, V 28)

I definitely plan to brush up and practise OG the next 5 days .... but I feel when I appeared for the test today .. I was reading and re-reading multiple times to get the question ..... This never happened when I practised .... I think I need to focus ... I'm kind of panicking since I just have 10 days ...and I haven't spent lot of time in last 3 weeks

Postponing is not an option, since I know my work load is only going to increase ...and this is the only time I can take couple of days off ... and give my best shot

I've scored consistently around 47 every time I've appeared for the test .... Verbals is something I need to focus and improve on

Q - GMAT prep -- doesn't give any explaination, is that right? I tried but couldn't find any way of finding the explaination

What is the best I can do? pls help

Thanks

Hi shahmau:

You voice a very common complaint--GMATPrep doesn't provide explanations.

What I would recommend is posting the questions where you need guidance on this forum. Leverage this community to get the answers/help that you need. Especially don't be shy about posting your GMATPrep math queries here because Mark Dabral (our math moderator) has seen and answered pretty much all questions in the GMATPrep math database.

Best of luck!

yes give your best shot!
:)

also you might want to check this thread we had some week ago
https://www.beatthegmat.com/viewtopic.php?p=3217#3217

though it was not the similar query but the thread starter also had nine days left for his GMAT ...so you might gain something from the info n suggestions we provided there.

what is your target score?
and yes even if Mark is busy there will be other folks to try to provide answer.
Eric,
from today i am joining the Quant squad :D

all the best shahmau :)

My target score is 680-700

I think I need to practise a lot of test .... I'm making lot of careless errors ...overlooking the question stem ...

after a lot of thought .. I'm planning to postpone by 2 weeks .... will be tough with work ... but at this point .. I don't feel confident ...after 2+ months of effort ..that I can crack 700 ... or for that matter even 650

good decision.
but then dont postpone it much.

next time when you fix a date take it once and for all!!

also note that any error, be it a careless error or concept error, is an error and you lose a point. so think first before clicking :D

'Lots of careless errors' indicates to me that you are pacing yourself too fast. Slow down and be a little more deliberate!

And yes, take lots of practice tests.
