I think it is C. What is the OA?

Initially I thought C, but after careful analysis, E makes sense. The construction 'that' ... and 'that' is parallel. What throws me off is the usage 'is descended'. Any body have thoughts on that?

I am not convinced on the construction "Australian embryologists have found evidence to suggest ...... " as suggested by option E.

Because It seems the embryologists have found evidence in order to suggest something... To me, "evidence that suggests.... " looks correct.

Can somebody explain ?

The construction ( the elephant had descended) implies that the elephants had once descended and not any more. This is logically not possible.

E is the only one that makes sense

The correct answer is E because "find evidence to suggest ..." is fine gramatically. The main concern is "is descended from". A better way to putting this would be "descended from" but it is the best of the lot.

Can some one explain clearly why the answer is E. Also, what is wrong with C?

OG claims that "evidence that suggests" is awkward and confusing. MG claims that "a study suggests that more work is needed" is correct.

could anybody clarify plz?

thx

Revoking the thread....

Here subject "evidence" is singular and only A reflects singular verb. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

E does seem right...but 'is descended' makes no sense at all!
