Difference between 'caused from' and 'a result of'

Qs: Computer engineers commonly suffer from eye strain and fatigue caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

A) caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.
B) a result of sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

Ans is 'B'.

Can some one explain me the difference between 'caused from' and 'a result of'.

Can you please post the source of the question. And please post all possible answers. I don't think that b is correct. I think that there should be a comma.

Hi,

The qs with all options is as below:

Qs: Computer engineers commonly suffer from eye strain and fatigue caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

A) caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.
B) caused because they sat too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.
C)a result from sitting for lengthy periods of time too near to a monitor .
D) a result which came from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.
E) a result of sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

Ans is 'E'.

There is no comma in any of the options. Got this qs in Manhattan Test series.

I try my best.
Caused and a result are modifying eye strain and fatigue. Eye strain and fatigue are results and not causes. So you can eliminate A and B. Furthermore B has a redundancy. (caused and because)
Among C,D and E is E the best possible answer. C and D have a wrong idiom "a result from". Furthermore D is clumsy. You don't need "which came". So E is the best possible answer. I wonder why there is no comma before a result.

I came here to say this. "Caused from" is not a correct idiom. Note that "from" on its own can mean "caused by", but wouldn't have been good in this sentence because we already have a "from" in "suffer from."
