Clarification related to OG explanation

by gmatjeet » Sun Jun 26, 2011 6:02 am
Ranked as one of the most important of Europe's young playwrights, Franz Xaver Kroetz has written 40 plays; his works-translated into more than 30 languages-are produced more often than any contemporary German dramatist.

(A) than any
(8) than any other
(C) than are any
(D) than those of any other
(E) as are those of any

OA: D

I could solve the question. But i have a doubt regarding option E. In the OG explanation, E is eliminated saying THOSE refers to Kroetz's works. But i cant make sense of this explanation. Can anyone explain only the OG explanation for option E.

Hi,
I don't know if I am allowed to say this. OG explanations are not top-class, there can be errors in explanations, as long as the OA is correct. If you are convinced that E is wrong, that is enough.
Cheers!

Primary reason to eliminate option E is because we need to use THAN with MORE.

I just noticed that my answer itself is gramatically wrong ;) :)

Primary reason to eliminate option E is that we need to use THAN with MORE.

"Those" does refer to works (which it's supposed to), but as everyone said, E is the choice that lacks the needed "than".
