10 days to Test Day - Tips and Advice

by rogsterling » Fri Nov 13, 2009 9:16 am
I think I'm prepared. I think.

I'm scoring in the range of 660-700 on the GMAT Prep (with some repeats). Around 620-660 on MGMAT.

My weakness is verbal. I have worked all the OG 12 questions for SC and CR and went through my mistakes. I plan on re-doing the exercise in the next 2-3 days again.

Any tips that could help me score higher on verbal on test day? As for quant, I feel confident, the only questions I have slight problems with are inequalities. Any suggestions that can help in these two areas would be much appreciated.

Previously I scored a 620 on the GMAT (back in 2005), I'm trying to get to the 700-710 mark.

Thanks.

Have you tried making notecards on your weaknesses?

I would spend a day and make a good set of notecards on verbal rules that you had struggled with in the past. Make sure you write down both the rule and an example of the problem you missed in the past to aid memory. Review these cards at least once a day up till your test.

This same process can apply for inequalities. Just write down all the inequality rules. (there are only a couple) and some examples of tough inequalities that you might have missed in the past.

IMO, this approach really allows you to mentally stay on top of your game for the test.

Thank you. I think that's a great suggestion. I have kept note cards, but to be completely honest I have not used them as effectively.

I just went and bought the 2nd edition OGs for Verbal and Quant and am going through the exercise and attempting all the questions before test day. Do you think this would help?

I will make my notecards today :)

Thanks bud.
