winner's guide to GMAT

Has any of you used this website?

They charge $ for their exercise books, but I wasn't sure if the books are worth buying. I tried the forum search, but coulnd't find anything. Please let me know if you know anything about this website.

I also have another question. Sorry, I'm new at this forum and have a lot of questions.

I received 690 (3 months ago) by just studying OG and taking princeton review course and felt that princeton review alone wasn't enough for me crack 700. Nevertheless, I have recently started to study for GMAT again and plan to take it sometime at the end of September. The question I have is that I'll be going on a cruise trip with my family from August 5 to August 15. Do you guys have any recommendation on what I should be studying before the trip and during? I'm not really sure how much studying I'll get done during the trip so I don't know if I want to study hardcore and take practice tests now, knowing that I'll have some gap during the trip. Should I just go ahead and study after I come back?

I have never heard of that site. Only go with reputable resources.

A 690 is only 10 points shy of 700. It's not the end of the world. 700 is the mythical magic number, but a 700 vs. a 690 isn't going to have a significant impact on your acceptance chances.

If you're intent on it, then just take a few more practice tests.

I wouldn't plan on trying to do any serious study while you're on vacation. Hard to stay focused!

Don't plan on studying while on vacation. First of all, you won't actually get anything accomplished. Second, have some fun. It's totally lame to go on vacation to study.

That said, I told myself I would study on my own vacation 3-4 weeks ago. My test is in 2 days. Other than one (yes, one) CR problem, I didn't study at all over a 10 day period. When I came back, I only had three weeks left to study, but I felt refreshed. With just an hour or two of recap over the next week, I took a MGMAT practice test and scored a 720. I'm a believer that being loose and refreshed is more important than trying to study yourself to death.

Long story short, study beforehand, don't study during, pick it up on the home stretch and you'll be fine.

A 690 is the 91st percentile. No business school would reject you for that score, nor would a school use that as a deciding factor in deciding between you and another student. (Experience, work history, recommendations, would all factor in first - even grades are generally given higher priority then GMAT score, especially in the 90+ percentile.)
