(B) a means to reduce, in order to comprehend, the nearly infinite number
(C) the means of reducing for comprehending the nearly infinite number
(D) the means that reduces, in order to comprehend, the nearly infinite amount
(E) the means for reducing in order to comprehend the nearly infinite amount

Please explain your choice.

(C) the means of reducing for comprehending the nearly infinite number

Cross out A,D and E because "stimuli" is countable so "number" is needed. ("stimulus" is singular and "stimuli" is plural)

Between B and C
B actually is a succint sentence while C is not.

I think infinite means countless something that can be counted but its just too much...like "the infinite ingenuity of man"; "infinite wealth"
