pages 1-9 --> 9 digits (one digit on each page)

187-9 = 178 digits remaining to be printed from page 10 onwards.

pages 10-99 --> 2 digits per page

No. of double digit pages = 178/2 = 89 pages

Total number of pages = 9 + 89 = 98 pages

Choose B.

Single digits 1-9; 9-1+1 = 9 pages
double 10-99; 99-10+1= 90 pages.

Total Digits. 9(1) +90(2)= 189. Ooops but we have 187 digits. Since 99 has two digits, scratch off both and we have last page 98.

Since numbers from 1 to 9 take up 9 digits, we are left with a total of 178 digits.

Starting with page 10, each number has 2 digits. Thus, there needs to be 178/2 = 89 more pages. Therefore, there are a total of 9 + 89 = 98 pages.

Answer: B
