There are two tall buildings in Cloverdale, the bank and the courthouse. Two surveyors are measuring the buildings' shadows at the same time. The shadow from the bank is 64 feet long and the shadow from the courthouse is 83 feet long. How tall is the bank building?

Statement (1): The courthouse is 120 feet tall.

Statement (2): The bank is 200 yards from the courthouse. (There are 3 feet in a yard)

Note that the heights and the shadows of the buildings would be in the same ratio.

Thus, from Statement 1, we have

120/83 = Ht of bank/64

=> Ht of the bank = 120/83*64 = a uique value. Sufficient

Statement 2 is not sufficient since we do not have enough data. Distance between the two buildings is of no significance. Insufficient.

The correct answer: A
