Please evaluate my profile

by mayanksharma » Mon Mar 10, 2014 9:55 pm
Hi please evaluate my profile for ISB, UT Austin, UNCA Business School and Duke University

My profile is as follows:

Academics, 10th & 12th: Good
Graduation: From Delhi College of Engineering, passed with honours (75.30%, top 7% of the class).
CFA level 1 cleared, scored in top bracket range in 8 out of 10 topics
Have not given my GMAT yet, but scored 730 in the first practice test, so will target a score greater than this.

Work Experience: Almost 3 years, Evalueserve, Financial Services
2 years in Derivatives, did three very good projects
past one year: Equity Research: good work as well
I can get recommendations from my VP, as well as a client who is a VP in a very big investment bank in London.

Extra activities:
Played football throughout school and college, have three gold medals to my name and certificates to prove.
Am an avid poet, won the first prize in an intra company competition.
Built a car which represented the college in a competition in Finland.
Multiple awards for GK throughout school

Hi mayanksharma,

To me, it looks like you've got a great profile for b-schools.

Academics look good - make sure you keep up that high gmat for the real test and aim for over 70th percentile on the quant and verbal sections. Plus sounds like you have strong analytical skills through work and completing your CFA.

You fulfill the 2-3 years of full time work experience. What's important is showing any career progression or leadership examples from the past few years.

And sounds like you are well-rounded as well - I love your extra-curricular activities as they are quite unique!

Feel free to reach out to us at Fortuna Admissions any time if you'd like a further assessment (for free) and we can help decide which schools might be the best fit for you.

Good luck! All the best,
-Melissa and the Fortuna Admissions Team

Looks pretty good for starters. Score above a 700 and these schools should all be within range for you.

Good luck on your test!

Thank you Melissa and Jon for getting back so fast. I wanted to ask that if I aim as high as Tuck/ Ross/ NYU would my application be considered.

Also I would like to add these things in order to understand my profile together: have been among the top performers of my company for the past two years and have been promoted in the shortest possible time.

Thanks

You definitely seem to have a lot of the main points covered in your profile. There are a few things I'd like more info but, overall, you're in the right range. If you can get the GMAT score we're talking about, then yeah, you could stretch a little with Tuck/Stern/Ross.

Good luck mate!
