GMAT Appointment Time

by ITman10 » Wed Mar 07, 2012 8:38 am
I'm about to sign up for my next writing of the GMAT in April. I'm taking 2 Prep courses which finish the 1st week of April. I understand and acknowledge that it's good to take the exam right after finishing any courses or during your peak ability level. When I went to sign up I noticed that the only available time to take the GMAT is 8:00am up until April 24th...a good 2 weeks past my course(s) completion. Anything earlier than 10:00am I have trouble since I am in no shape or form a morning person.

So, what would be best? Man up and take an 8:00am GMAT right after my peak ability (I hope it will be peak)...or hold off 2 weeks until I get a late morning GMAT time (like 11:30am) and be more awake and focused?

If this helps, I work full-time and wake up at 7am everyday to make it to work at 8am. However, I noticed that I'm more engaged and sharper right before lunch time (late morning).

Any help is much needed!

I would say hold for two more weeks. Check for available slots from tomorrow till next week. Usually people who have already registered will not postpone until they are one week ahead of their test date. So from tomorrow till next week if you can find more slots that fits your timing then you can wait till April to book the slot as the pattern will repeat. Its not necessary you that have to book it a month earlier. Don't worry that you won't get any slot, the slot availability for the coming week will be same as it is on any day you book it. If not you will have the morning slots and you can take that up then. Holding on will give you added advantage to choose slots that fits your comfort level.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

I would say hold off. It can definitely make a big difference taking a test really early in the morning versus being relaxed and focused taking it later in the day. I know I wouldn't want to take the test first thing in the morning. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I checked appointment times again this morning and an late morning time has opened up on a date that is a week earlier!

I think I will wait another day or two to see if more times open up.

Regards,
