I am assuming the question is: Is x|y| > y²?praveen_gmat wrote:Is x|y| > y^2?
(1) x > y
(2) y > 0
How to do? .. OA is C
(1) x > y
If x = 3 , y = 1, then x|y| = 3 > y²
If x = 2, y = -3, then x|y| = -6 < y²
No definite answer; NOT sufficient.
(2) y > 0
If x = 3 , y = 1, then x|y| = 3 > y²
If x = 2, y = 3, then x|y| = 6 < y²
No definite answer; NOT sufficient.
Combining (1) and (2), x > y > 0, which implies x and y are positive numbers such that x > y.
If x = 3 , y = 1, then x|y| = 3 > y²
If x = 10, y = 3, then x|y| = 30 > y²; SUFFICIENT.
The correct answer is C.
