If n is an integer and (5^n) > 4,000,000, what is the least possible value of n ?
(A) 7
(B) 8
(C) 9
(D) 10
(E) 11

I don't know how to solve this kind of questions. Please let me know if any of you know the method.

manipulate equation:

5^n>4x10^6
5^n>4 x 2^6 x 5^6

right here you know that n has to be greater than 6 because you have the outstanding factors of 4 and 2^6.

next step is to take outstanding factors and manipulate as close to 5^n

so

5^n>4 x 2^3 x 2^3 x 5^6
5^n>4 x 4^3 x 5^6
5^n>4 ^4 x 5^6

4^4=256

so whatever power we put to 5 has to be greater than that. Meaning 5^3 = 125 which is less than 256. So only 5^4 would cover 256. Hence n has to equal 4+6=10

you got this man!
