When comparing countable items we will use fewer so we can eliminate A,C,D.

B. Seven have been killed by sharks - fewer than have been killed by bee sting.
E. Wrong because it's not parallel.

Correct Answer is B.

Can you elaborate on the usage of "than have been"

I do agree that B is correct though.
