Undergraduate and Graduate GPA

by Root11 » Sun Nov 16, 2008 12:24 pm
Hi,
I have a decent undergraduate GPA. I also took some graduate courses (a 2-year course) and had a diploma with a moderate GPA (3.1). Would be my graduate GPA taken into account by admission committee? Should I address that issue in an optional essay?

Thank you.

Dear Root11,

Your graduate transcript will be part of the overall evaluation even though it is not factored into the reported GPA (based on undergraduate only). If you feel it is low enough that it requires an explanation, then that is what the optional essay is for, but if your graduate GPA was merely average I'm not sure that warrants another essay. What will be more important is for you to present a rationale for why you want a MBA in addition to this graduate degree.

Good luck,
Lisa
