Personal computing technology has advanced to the point that home users can easily set up home networks, allowing multiple users to share, access and control multiple resources like larger offices do.

A. resources like larger offices do
B. resources like larger offices
C. resources, such as larger offices do
D. resources, as larger offices
E. resources, as larger offices do

Answer is E

Sorry for posting such an easy question. But whenever i attempt this kind of question i get it wrong most of the time. My answer was B, But later i realized that it was incorrect.

What is the best way to eliminate this answer (B) ? However, my understanding says, which i eventually i got after getting it incorrect, it is comparing a clause with a noun.

clause [home users can....resources] Like larger offices.

Am i correct on eliminating this one ?

Please help in understanding this one.

Thanks & Regards
Vinni

Important thing to understand is what the sentence is trying to say. Is it comparing the users with offices, or is it comparing the actions of users with actions of office.

When you compare two nouns, use like.
When you compare actions preformed by two entities use as.

Thanks vinayak.

It seems to me that in B an action is compared with a noun and that is incorrect. So, now i can believe that my understanding is correct for B.
