In year x, it rained on 40% of all Mondays and 20% of all Tuesdays. On what percentage of all the weekdays in year x did it NOT rain?

(1) During year x, it rained on 10% of all Wednesdays.
(2) During year x, it did not rain on 70% of Thursdays and it did not rain on 95% of all Fridays.

In the year X it did not rain

60% on Monday , 80% on Tuesday

(1) 90 % on Wednesday. Insuffi

(2) 30 % on Thursday and 5 % on Fridays . Insuffi

(1) and (2) the probabilty of no rainfall on weekdays in a week 6/10*8/10*9/10*3/10*5/100

IMO C

my question is, is there a specific # tht GMAT takes as standard # of weeks ?
like as per gmat in a year , there are 48 weeks ? or 52 weeks?
likewise for days , there are 365 days ? 366 days ? or what ?

If the OA is C..the saturday is NOT counted as Weekday.

If OA is E, the they have included saturday as Weekday.

Since the content of this question is bit ambiguous, I am not sure about the validity of the question. Agreed its frm MGMAT, still u can clearly see it is construing a different pic.

Source : MGMAT Qbank
Rainy days : 40% of all Mondays and 20% of all Tuesdays
to calculate : Non - Rainy days

St. 1 : Rainy day :10% of all Wednesdays. what about other days....insuff.
St. 2: Non rainy day : 70% of Thursdays and it did not rain on 95% of all Fridays. what abt wednesaday and other day ....insuff.
combined: we don't about sat and sun ..insuff....

I want to know why u all are not considering sat and sun as weekday...they all comes in a week...??

In order to answer the question, we must know the annual rain percentages for each weekday and the proportion each weekday represents relative to the total number of weekdays in year x. (Since we don't know the specific day that year x starts, we cannot assume that Mondays represent exactly 1/5 of the total weekdays in year x, Tuesdays represent 1/5 of the total weekdays in year x, etc.)

(1) INSUFFICIENT: This provides information about the percentage of Wednesday that it rained but this ALONE is not sufficient.

(2) INSUFFICIENT: This provides information about the the percentage of Thursdays and the percentage of Fridays that it rained, but this ALONE is not sufficient.

(1) AND (2) INSUFFICIENT: Both statements together, in conjunction with the information given in the question, provide the annual rain percentages for each weekday during year x. However, because we do not know the proportion each weekday represents relative to the total number of weekdays in year x, we still do not have sufficient information to answer the question.

The correct answer is E.

Please help urself with the OE.

Shashank ,

the source is already mentioned in the main question itself.

The doubt was regarding the # of weekends/ days in a year . wanted to know whether is there a firm stand about this on GMAT ?

Can someone still clear that doubt ???
