Profile Evaluation + School Recommendations

by witwiyl » Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:31 am
-Female
-24 years (will be 25 when entering program, aiming to start my program in the fall of 2009)
-3.4 GPA from UC Riverside
-BA in psychology with a minor in business administration
-Member of Sigma Kappa (a national sorority) for 4 years during college. Held many leadership roles including president/VP of membership, etc. Participated in tons and tons of volunteer/chairty work during those 4 years for organizations such as City of Hope (raised $50,000), Relay for Life, Alzheimers Foundation, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
-Worked on many psychology experiments/research projects, one of which was published in a nationally recognized journal. Esentially, I am published.
-GMAT hasn't been taken yet. Expecting around 650
-Will have strong essays (writing is my strong suit) as well as refrences.

-Immediately after graduation I became employed at a top fortune 500 company (Wells Fargo Financial) where I was a financial advisor/consultant for 2 years. Promoted after 15 months and participated in many leadership roles within the company: special committes, mentor progams, etc.
-At the end of my employment I was individually responsible for an increase in company revenue by $20 million US dollars
-I have been at my new job for about 3 months now. Went straight from Wells Fargo to my new position where I currently do marketing/sales. I am responsible for 100-150 company accounts all across southern California
-By the time I start school, I will have had a little over 3 years work experience

-Since college I have continued to participate with many charitable organizations, the same ones listed above.

-My plan: I want to focus on marketing consulting for international business. Ideally, I would like to attend school somwhere in England (London).

I really don't know which schools would best fit my profile, or where I would have the best chance. If I do not go to England, I am open to anywhere within the US.

Dear witwiyl,

You have a foundation for a competitive application, but your GMAT score will give you guidance on which programs will be either a stretch or a safe bet. The best school in England according to most rankings is London Business School. However, there are some other strong programs in the UK and EU that might be worth researching. Likewise, there could be some programs in the US with strong international curricula that might be a good match for you as well. Peruse some of the websites that give program profiles as most of these will allow you to select criteria of interest and then pull up a list of schools meeting that criteria.

Good luck,
Lisa
