Evaluate me please : )

by mikeymike » Sun May 03, 2009 10:51 pm
I recently took my GMAT and scored a 750 48Q 45V. My concern is applying to top schools where my GPA from the University of Connecticut (3.2) is below average but not significantly. I'm unsure of my Major GPA (Finance), but it is lower than this. Do you think this will hold me back to any large degree at top schools? I am willing to take some summer classes and do my best to get A's to make up for my less than spactacular undergraduate record.

Schools I'm looking to apply at are NYU, Columbia, HBS, Wharton, Georgetown, Rice, Chicago, and the UConn part time program.

I am also looking at finding an admissions consultant to work with as I feel it will benefit me. Thank you.

Dear mikeymike,

Congratulations on your GMAT score! I do not think your 3.2 will hold you back as it is not that far below average and your GMAT score is quite high. Since decisions are made on more than the numbers, your essays, recommendations and interviews will play an integral role in whether or not you receive an admission offer. With regards to hiring an admissions consultant, I encourage you to do your research to determine the best one for you as there are many options out there.

Best of luck,
Lisa
