I am confused by OG explanation and struggling to understand GMAT test-writers' concepts about present participle modifiers.
Experts, pls help !!

1/ Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.

(A) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives,
(B) In her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, Beatrix Potter
(C) In her book illustrations, which she carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter
(D) Carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations
(E) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and

My question is for B:
OG says 'carefully coordinating them with her narratives' (M2) modifies 'book illustrations' which is the immediate noun precedes M2. While my reasoning is, M2 should modify 'Beatrix Potter' instead as it's Beatrix Potter did the 'coordinating', not 'book illustrations' did it. On the other hand, my understanding follows the rule 'present participle + comma + Independent Clause (IC)' in which present participle will modify the subject of IC (Ex., Taking off the coat, Peter sits down and starts to write).
Pls help to point out what's wrong with my understanding and what is GMAT test writers's
actual concept about present participle modifier here ?

2/
Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced x-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it, is finding uses in medicine, archaeology, and criminology.
(A) Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced x-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,
(B) Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, having the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it, a technique called proton induced x-ray emission
(C) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced x-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,
(D) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced x-ray emission, which has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying it,
(E) A technique that was originally developed for detecting air pollutants and has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying the substance, called proton-induced x-ray emission,

My question is for B: OG says 'having the ability to analyze the chemical elements...' (M2) actually modifies 'originally developed for detecting air pollutants' (M1), but my reasoning is same as above, therefore
'having the ability...' (M1) should modify 'a technique' instead. Pls help point out what's wrong with my understanding and why M2 can modifies M1 ??

My second question: according to OG, in C & D, 'which' incorrectly modifies 'emission', if so why in A 'which' correctly modifies 'a technique', not 'emission' while the structure in A, C & D are all identical (.....emission, which....)?

I am very confused

Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.

Doubt 1
is it necessary that the sentence must be able to stand on its own after we have removed the modifiers in commas
For example
D becomes
Beatrix Potter carefully coordinated them with her narratives and capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.
after
we remove
, in her book illustrations,

Doubt 2
I thought C changes the meaning of the sentence
The conveyed meaning is that The Modifier
carefully coordinating them with her narratives explains how Potter capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.
so if we turn the modifier into a which clause doesnt it change the intended meaning of the original sentence
