“The mission of a university is to educate its students.
Therefore, a professor’s pay and promotions should be based primarily on students’ evaluations of his or her courses.”

It is true that goal of university is to prepare students as work force through imparting quality education.
The curriculum is based on clearly defined objectives. The sole responsibilities of professors are to guide the students
in line with those objectives. As students are at the recipient’s end they should have the scope to provide the feedback on
professors performance . Feedback in turn will be used to decide on the pay and promotions of the professors.
This is three-sixty degree arrangment which should be impelemented to make education systems more effective.

There are a number of reasons why we sould fllow so. Firstly, the students are the best judge about how effcetively a professor
can articulate the course contents.Though grasping power of every students vary from one another the overall average response rate
can be good measure. Secondly, this is bias free measure where indiviual professor can rated irrespetive of their age,
education background, experence. Apart from that the chance of nepotism is all zero because a professor will have more than one boss.
Thirdly, the feedback which is coming from a community can highlight on different aspect of teaching where the professor has to improve upon.
Fourthly and most importantly in tradition educational system a professor considered as a very revered person. He is above all the nitty gritties of daily life. But the reality is quite different. The performance of a professor is highly correlated with the way he or she leading his/her life.
This two way interaction can build the ground for looking a professor as a "professional in education field" which can help to improve the system more efficient.

To conclcude, the traditional approach towards performance appraisal whcih follows a hierarchical approach breads inefficiency which
cannot discriminate between a good teacher and not so good one beacuse it has got limited capacity to judge the quality of their
end product i.e education.

"There are a number of reasons why we sould fllow so" ?

What kind of a sentence is that?
The GMAT is indeed adaptable. Whenever I answer RC, it proficiently 'adapts' itself to mark my 'right' answer 'wrong'.
