Profile Evaluation Please

Kindly give your invaluable comments on my MBA application (admit fall 2011)

Personal details
Nationality: Indian
Age: 29
GMAT: Male

Professional Background
BS and MS in Materials Eng. from Top Indian Engineering School (IIT)
At present around 4 years (almost all international) of work-exp in the global semiconductor (chip manufacturing) industry. Will be 5 yrs by date of entry.
Lived and worked in many countries such as Israel, USA, Singapore, Netherlands, Korea during the last 4 years.
Presently executing a technology transfer project for Indian Space Agency (called as ISRO locally) as module lead traveling between India and Israel.

Extra-curriculars: Active in sports during school and university days. also won prizes in quizzing, debates etc in school and university

GMAT Score: Not yet taken. Target Score 720+

Negatives: Retrenched during the mother of all recession periods (jan 2009 till dec 2009). Did voluntary (non-paid) research work at one of the Singapore universities during this time. Modest GPA (~3/4). No notable community service experience.

Post MBA Career Goals: Interested in an MBA with a Technology focus as my post MBA career goals are positions in Technology Management and Consulting with a more strategic and less technical perspective.

Target Schools: MIT Sloan, Stanford GSB, Kellogg, London Business School, Berkeley Haas, Yale

Plz let me know...do I have a good shot at the schools chosen. Also, please suggest any other schools keeping in mind my post MBA goals. Any other comments are also welcome !!!

Hi,

Thanks for your post. You certainly appear to have a strong profile. Your diverse international experience sounds great and will certainly help you stand out from others in the application pool. While you can certainly be competitive with your profile if will be important for you to score the 720+ you're targeting on the GMAT as well as research your target programs. The fact that you have no extracurricular activities since graduating from undergrad could be a red flag to bschools who rely on active student participation to run clubs and other programs. The fact that you were indeed active in undergrad will serve as supporting evidence of your intention to be involved, but you'll want to go a step further and be sure your essays target each schools' particular programs and how you can have an impact.
