At present I have taken both GMAT Prep 1 & 2 as well as 4 Manhattan CATs.
My Verbal score, since day 1 of taking an initial 'diagnostic test' has remained 40 - 41. No surprise, I haven't really focused on verbal at all.
My Quant score has moved around starting with a low of 36, a high of 45 (GMATprep 1) and 4 of 6 practice exams coming in between 40 - 41.
Study materials: OG12, Manhattan math guides
At this point in time, my goal is to consistently post quant scores of at least 45. Any advice you all have on the following would be really helpful!
Speed:
Based on the progression of my scores per Manhattan's CAT analysis tool, I stay in the 75-80 throughout most of the test, and typically "self-destruct" at the end. (last 4-5 problems) looks like I need to become faster!
I've memorized squares, cubes, and factorials--anything else you all recommend to increase speed? It just seems a majority of the problems will take me 2min 10 sec - 2 min 30 sec!
One thing that seems to slow me down is actually division!
Variable in Choice
These problems are the bane of my GMAT existence! Even a supposed "500-600" problem gives me a lot of trouble
x% of y is increased by x%. What is the result in terms of x and y?
What is the approach you all take? Some problems the answer recommends choosing values, others recommend a direct solve. I typically start with trying to formulate a direct solve and if that doesn't work, choose values--I know, really big waste of time.
