is GMATPrep harder ? Please help...

by jymloke » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:55 pm
Hi all,

My exam is coming up next Friday (1 week) and I am a bit worried about the scores I am getting on the GMATPrep.

First score was 698, 680, and then it dropped to 620, and then raised back to 650 again. I notice the questions for Maths and DS in GMATPrep to be harder than the OGs, and I remembered reading somewhere here that the OGs are the bible to preparing for the GMAT test.

The questions in OG are okay for me as I know how to do all of them (concentrating around the last 100 questions).

I am not sure if I should delay my exam....

Hope to hear your thoughts on this.

The GMAT Prep tests tend to be the most accurate predictors of actual GMAT performance; it's very rare for me to have a student who scores much better or much worse (within about 30 points) on the real thing.

How are you scoring in quant? I think the OG is accurate up to about 80th percentile (scaled score of 48).

Hi,

I have been scoring aroudn 42 - 45 around quants. Verbal at arnd 39 due to sentence correction. It's the only one that is fluctuating.

I also find that there seem to be a major concentration around number properties/prime number-ish questions, as compared to word problems. I do well in the latter, but not the former. Still get stuck from time to time but it is getting better.

I have started doing the maths problems in Kaplan 800, also did well in them actually.

What would you recommend ? Do you know where I can get extra test papers without having to buy any books/attending courses?
