G-Day Nov. 29th

by anb » Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:20 pm
Greetings,

I am scheduled for the GMAT in 2.5 weeks.

The following are my CAT scores:

CAT 1: 600 (36Q, 36V)
CAT 2: 600 (37Q, 35V) Note: didn't confirm last question N/A
CAT 3: 690 (43Q, 40V)
CAT 4: 700 (44Q, 41V)

I plan to do 2 more MGMAT tests plus the two GMATPrep tests. This may be a lot to squeeze in for the time that I have. I may just do 1 MGMAT and 2-3 GMATPrep tests.

I am feeling more comfortable with verbal, in particular SC and CR. My RC unfortunately isn't so great. It seems hit or miss for RC. If I like the topic or associate myself with the topic, I can do well. If not, I get 1-2 wrong per passage.

For math, I haven't been getting many of the 700-800 level questions correct. I have recognized that some of my weaknesses in math are number properties and ratios/rates/statistics. These MGMAT questions are pretty tough - I hope it doesn't reflect the actual test! I am decent in probability, but I heard probability does not show up too often on the test, so I'm not too worried about that.

Any suggestions for the last two weeks?? In particular, improving RC and my math weaknesses...

Thanks Eric, I didn't see that post. Very much appreciated!

I just took a GMATPrep practice test and scored a 660 (Q44, V37 - I may have them switched, can't remember...is there a way to bring the score back?). Also, like an idiot, I didn't confirm the last question on Math, so I don't know how much that affected my score.

As I briefly reviewed the test, I noticed that I missed several Quant questions that should've been correct, i.e. I miscalculated an average, I misread a question..etc. Can anyone recommend the best way to overcome these errors before I take the test in two weeks! I plan to take the second GMATPrep exam in a week.

Also, CR and RC I thought were similar to what I've been practicing with MGMAT and OG Guide. However, SC for some reason seemed much tougher - I got like 6 wrong! Before this test, I felt pretty confident in my SC ability (the MGMAT SC book is great!). Looks like I'll have to practice more SC...

Thanks in advance for any info!

5 days to go!!!

So my GMATPrep scores are as follows (MGMAT scores above):

GMATPrep 1 - 660 (Q44 V37) - noticed some very careless mistakes in math

GMATPrep 2 - 630 (Q47 V29) - verbal tore me a new one, SC, RC

Retake 1 - 650 (Q46 V34) did see some repeats, repeats that I had got wrong, I marked them wrong

Retake 2 (was determined to not let RC beat me) - 720 (Q48 V41) saw some repeats, more so for math, verbal was plenty different - also, if there was a repeat question that I had gotten wrong, I corrected it and got it right, allowing time to run of course.

One thing I noticed that SC was varied - Prep 2 was really difficult, but I thought SC was very manageable during Retake 2. I guess it's just luck of the draw.

Although this 720 may not be very accurate, I like how I performed in Verbal (saw some repeats but not very many, maybe 2-3). In any case, I'm going to take this confidence booster and run with it for my test on Sat. I may take another MGMAT test on Wed...but then again, I don't need a jab to slow me down.

I'm currently watching Rocky's comeback victory against Clubber Lang....I anticipate a similar performance come Saturday! Eye of the Tiger!
