570. Out of America’s fascination with all things antique have grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that are bringing back the chaise lounge, the overstuffed sofa, and the claw-footed bathtub.
(A) things antique have grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that are bringing
(B) things antique has grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that is bringing
(C) things that are antiques has grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that bring
(D) antique things have grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that are bringing
(E) antique things has grown a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures that bring

please explain why "THINGS THAT ARE ANTIQUE"

is better than "ANTIQUE THINGS" , also pls tell me about "antique things"

the former is like going through a longer route....?

i usually face problem deciding on such cases and end up selection wrong ans.

Hi kelvin,

I think you might have got the wrong OA. The OA for this question is B. This is in fact question no. 116 from OG11. Check there for a better explanation.

BM

thanks dear !

but in OG they have not addressed this issue. I face problem when i have to decide between ant sort of word placement

as in the following example..

" now generated power " or "power generated now "
i can not decide where should be now placed and why..!

There are hopeful signs that we are shifting away from our heavy reliance on fossil fuels: more than ten times as much energy is generated through wind power now than it was in 1990.

(A) generated through wind power now than it was
(B) generated through wind power now as it was
(C) generated through wind power now as was the case
(D) now generated through wind power as it was
(E) now generated through wind power than was the case

the trick in this SC is the way it is written. there is a subject verb error here.

fascination is singular -------- so fascination......has grown a market is right

using this we can eliminate A and D

Now between B C and E we again have subject verb error.

Note that "a market" is a singular noun ... the correct way of putting it is "a market ....is bringing"

So B
