"Those" is correct and "that"s is not because "those" refers to plural variations...

My choice is B: I was debating between B and C

that is appropriate since it referrs to the aging property
individuals from same species is appropriate.

OA is C. Can we say those is always use for plural and that is always use for singular in comparision question? Please anyone validate this.

I am not sure how individual from the same species is better than individuals of the same species

We are individuals of the human race

vs

We are individuals from the human race. Yikes

Even if we wanted to use than that , Don't we need "than that of" when ever we use than that?

Values of X in Y are greater than that of Z in Y.

The singular/plural angle you brought up did not occur to me before. I will let the guru's field it.

among is used to compare more than2 things
between is used to compare 2 things

so, we need "among diff species" and "among individuals"

we are comparing "variations in lifespans" -plural
so it needs the pronoun -those

that can refer to singular as well as plural nouns

The problem here is use of 'of' and 'from'

when we want to refer to few memebers of a group we always use of
for example 'members of tourist group'
