Our class sessions are live, so you can't compress the live sessions into less time than the nine-weeks format. You, your classmates, and your instructors meet once a week at the same time each week.

We do also have a self-study program in which people get access to tapes of the classes, so you can watch those on whatever schedule you want, but I REALLY wouldn't recommend compressing into a month or less.

Classes last 3 hours and we assign 10-20 hours of homework a week for EACH class. If you try to do all of that in too short a period of time, you will not retain the material as well - cramming just doesn't work.

Also, I don't know what scores are like for people who study on their own, but students who complete our 9-week course (either live in person or live virtual) have a median score of 700 on the official GMAT. (Note: this number is likely a bit inflated, as not everyone responds to our requests to share their scores. Presumably, the higher someone scores, the more likely he or she is to share the score with us. We do our best to get results from all of our students, but not everybody responds.)
Please note: I do not use the Private Messaging system! I will not see any PMs that you send to me!!

Anonymous wrote:Hi everyone,

I am new to the site, and like the rest of the people in here I am struggling between the online course and the self study method. From what I gathered so far, alot of people are taking the MGMAT's course and is scoring higher than people who are self studier. Are there any feedback from self study members vs the prep course members? Or perhaps a toll on the Course GMAT scores vs Self studiers GMAT scores.

I also have a particular question on the MGMAT's 9 session virtual course, is it possible to finish the 9 sessions in a month instead of the schedule that is given on the website? I would rather learn it all compacted into a month than learning it one week at a time which last 2 months.
This is a big decision on my part, due to the large amount of money that will be invested.

Thanks and best of luck to all.

It is possible for you to do well with self study, but you'll need a solid study strategy as well as the discipline to stick with your plan. This community has a lot of self studiers, so you will have support during your prep. To see what one self-study plan could look like, check out https://beatthegmat.blocked.

The MGMAT online course is an excellent option as well--lots of Beat The GMAT members have said great things about this course. Also, please note that as a member of this community you get a 10% discount on these classes. Check out https://www.beatthegmat.com/discounts.html for more info.

Best of luck!
