by portakal123 » Wed Sep 08, 2010 11:49 am
Hi,
I have very low gpa (2.3) and wanna make alternative transcript.I am thinking of taking business application of calculus course in UCLA extension online program. Do you think taking this course and getting A increase my chances of getting in top 20 business school along with 750 plus and high master gpa?
Thanks

Dear portakal123,

Taking a class or two to build an alternative transcript will show you can excel in the classroom and manage your time well between school and work. The UCLA Extension program is a great option and many folks take courses through the UC system in this way. If you have a high GPA in your master's degree program as well as a high GMAT score, those will also mitigate your low undergraduate GPA. In addition to these measures of academic ability though, your essays and interview will still be critical components in your evaluation. You will need to use all the pieces of your application to your advantage to give yourself the best chance.

Good luck,
Lisa
