I am currently working full time in a Supply Chain department as a Forecast Analyst. I am also prepping for the GMAT and applying to business school, but postponing studying for the GMAT to study for a certification in professional forecasting.

The certification seems pretty legitmate(through the Institute of Business Forecasting, similar to APICS), but I am wondering if I am wasting time getting it if I am going to business school anyways. I was thinking that it would help my application though, but wasn't sure.

Does anyone think that these business type of certifications are worth the time? Will it help for business school apps?

I would say that it is worth going for the certification if -

1) it can bring out leadership intitiatives in you - related/non related to you project (but should be something meaningful)
2) you should be clear enough to explain the adcom people how that certification has helped you in achieving your goals. Like if it has made you thing more from the creative front or made you more productive. I mean the bottom line is - the certification should show an impact from your professional perspective.

Hope it helps!!
