GMAT: 680 (Q: 49, V:33 , AWA: 5.0)

Undergrad Major: Electronics and Communication and Engineering

Undergrad College: Anna University, Chennai

Country: India

3 years (36 months) of full time, post graduate work experience as a Software Engineer in Infosys.

6 months of full time experience as Management Trainee in an open air restaurant and a plaza managing 4 vendors and 87 employees (12 months by the time i join the bschool) Shifted the career for a more challenging and versatile work environment.

Extracurriculars:
1. Event organizer of State level symposium.
2. Served as the Cultural secretary in college
3. Have quite a number of awards working with Infosys.
4. Been a member of core member of infosys mcity food committee and cloud9 - an initiative to arrange events/project parties.

Kindly evaluate my profile for:

1. National University Of Singapore - Full Time MBA
2. Nanyang Business School - Full Time MBA
3. ISB

Inputs for any other universities which i can apply is highly appreciated.

Also am planning to land into consulting and for that to improve my profile better, looking forward to retake GMAT and work in the same organization for one more year and apply for 2013 intake if i couldn't make it for 2012 intake. Though i am a bit happy with my present employment. However i have few doubts.

My present organization doesn't have a big brand value compared to my previous organization, does that matter ?
Do the schools accept career shifts ?
Is it better to switch over back to IT or stay in the same organization if i plan to apply for 2013 intake along with a GMAT retake ?

Dear sakthivel.m87,

I think you have a competitive profile for your 3 target schools. My only thought is around your change in job. It is not so much that the Infosys name is better known as why you took the Management Trainee position. You need to explicitly convey how your current job relates to your future career goals. Perhaps you are gaining some specific skills there you could not at Infosys? or exposure to a certain industry you want to consult in? If you can present a reasonable explanation for why you made your career change and how both positions are relevant to your future consulting career, then you will effectively address any concerns. As for delaying your application a year and going back to IT, you can certainly do that if you feel entering in 2012 is not the right time. However, you will still need to explain why you worked in a restaurant for a year.

Good luck,
Lisa
