Dear Tejaswi,

Based on your post, you have the foundation for a competitive application to your target schools. Your list is appropriate with the right mix of reach (Haas, Kellogg), reasonable and safety schools for you. For any of these schools, you will need a strong set of essays and a great interview. In both components, you need to distinguish yourself from the many applicants with a similar profile to give yourself the best chance for admission. The only weakness I saw in the profile posted is that all your extracurricular activities seem to be from college. Schools will want to know what, if anything, you have done outside the office.

Good luck,
Lisa

Hello Lisa,
Thanks a lot for your comments and especially for bringing out the below weakness in my case..

"The only weakness I saw in the profile posted is that all your extracurricular activities seem to be from college. Schools will want to know what, if anything, you have done outside the office."

I wanted to know what kind of extra curricular activities am I expected to bring forward because its not that practical with a job, to carry on participating in events such as debates, writing etc. I can list out participation in cricket and badminton tournaments organized at my workplace. Can we list out travelling-as a hobby that i have pursued, after beginning to work?

Awaiting your reply...

Thx - Tejaswi

Extracurricular activities encompass anything you do outside the office. Do you participate on a sports team? Do you do any work in the community? Are you active in any professional organizations? So an activity that is more organized where you would interact with others.

Good luck,
Lisa

Got My AWA Scores

by tejaswi4u » Fri Sep 11, 2009 7:58 am
Hello Lisa,
I got my AWA Scores just now and it was a 4.0/6.

Please let me know if this is blow big enough to damage the rest of my application...Should i think of a re-take just because of an OK AWA score?

Regards
Tejaswi

I do not think you should retake your GMAT because of your AWA. Your essays and interview will demonstrate your verbal abilities in English.
