During a single footrace, 6 of the 14 competitors held the lead for some period of time. If 4 of the leaders wore black shoes and 9 people wore white shoes, how many of the people who never lead wore white shoes if everyone wore either black or white shoes?

I get 7 as well.

Total Competitors : 9 with white shoes and (14-9) = 5 with black shoes
Among Leaders: 4 with black shoes, implies 2 with white shoes
Therefore among the non-leaders were, (5-4)=1 with black shoes and (9-2)=7 with white shoes.
