I took the OG 13 Diagnostic verbal alone. Was surprised that first 3-4 passages were full of RC's and by the time I finished answering 2nd passage questions, I really got exhaused. And was shocked that there wer some 20 more tough CR questions ahead.

I really dint have the energy to read such huge passages of CR after finishing RC and when i just reached question 21, It took me 45 mins and I dint have any more energy to proceed.

Could any expert tell me some strategy of how to handle Verbal section. Especially when you get such huge passages in beginning. I finished MGMAT RC's CR and to my surprise this was the first test i took and I couldnt even withstand beyond 45 mins ( Leaving the success rates of ans's apart)..

1. What should i really do to improve my speed and energy level to understand the passage in such a short time frame.?

2. Will the real GMAT also have some 15-20 qns in RC in the beginning and some 30 odd CR questions??

Practice makes you perfect. May be once a week try and study in 3-4 hour chunks with 8 mins breaks to simulate the GMAT. It will help you get into the habit of maintaining your concentration + a habit of sitting for 4 hours :P (before I could not even sit 30 mins straight even if you tie me to the chair with a rope lol .. it will take some time and you will do just fine).

Real GMAT mostly has 3 short + 1 Long passage (with 3-4 Q's in each passage), 14-15 CR and the rest is SC.

Hi fanaticwhiz,

The OG Diagnostic Test is NOT representative of the the real GMAT. It has too many questions, groups them by category, does NOT adapt, etc., so don't get too down on yourself because of this performance. It does serve to show you what you're good at and what still needs work, so make sure to review the tactics that you used to get questions correct and review the questions that you got wrong to see what you could have done differently. In the EMPOWERgmat course, we actually have our students do the OG Diagnostic Test near the END of the course, so that they can apply everything they've learned to a Test that's arguably tougher than the real thing.
