20+ points on your GMAT will not make the difference since you are already at 700. Instead you should concentrate your efforts on getting the best possible essays and recommendations. Recognize that there are thousands of engineers from India with 700+ GMAT scores applying to the top US schools. That makes for a very competitive applicant pool. If you are determined to go to school in the US next year you should include a couple of safety schools: schools for which your GPA and GMAT are higher than their averages.

You say your experience is in 4 countries. If that means four different employers you will have difficulty explaining the moves. If those reflect assignments by a single employer that would be a strength. You should consider using an admissions consultant to put together the most persuasive possible essays, highlighting your strengths. Focus on those things that set you apart from others with your technical background.

You should also look for schools that have a focus on energy. See which employers interview at and hire from the specific schools. A school that is rated 15th but places its graduates in top energy companies could be a better bet for you than one that ranks 5thm, but has no energy alliances.
