1. 2x > x^2
x^2-2x < 0
x(x-2) < 0
0<x<2
Stmt 1 answers the question. Sufficient.

2. x<1
x can be -ve or zero or a positive fraction less than 1
Insufficient.

another way to solve statement 1 would be -

No matter what the value of x is +ve or -ve, x^2 will always be positive. It is given in statement 1 that 2x > x^2

Therefore 2x must be +ve, therefore x is +ve
