Unlike football, which is played

by neer.king » Tue Jun 18, 2013 8:09 am
Unlike football, which is played on a standardized field, baseball fields vary considerably in both size and shape.

A) baseball is played on a field that varies considerably in both size and shape.
B) baseball is played on fields that vary considerably in both size and shape.

Please explain the difference.

A) baseball is played on a field that varies considerably in both size and shape
IMO - Incorrect. What actually above sentence mean is that baseball is played in one single field ( a field) which varies in both size and shape. This doesn't make sense.

B) This says, Baseball is played on fields(not a particular field but may field) and all these fields vary in their size and shape.

Make sense?

thnx this makes sense but the confusion that I have is:

in underlined portion it says football, which is played on a standardized field.. if this is right then second options should be right as well.

Please let me know if I am missing something.
