Test Day on 2 days

by ale_434 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 9:36 am
Hi guys!

How's it going? So test day is Dec 10th, I've covered pretty much all the prep materials, done a ton of exercises, and 5 practice tests (3 ManhattanPrep CAts and the 2 free official Gmat Prep tests). I've started preparation about 2 months ago, and since then I've studied 3-4 hours a day, 7 days a week. These are my prep tests' scores:

- GMatPrep Exam 1 October 11th: 530 q37 v26
- Manhattan Prep CAT Free November 17th: 580 q39 v31
- Manhattan Prep CAT 2 November 27th: 580 q40 v30
- Manhattan Prep CAT 3 November 28th: 620 q39 v36
- GMatPrep Exam 2 december 6th: 590 q36 v35

I will seriously strive to go over the 600 mark on test day. As you can see, I've improved a lot on the verbal section but my results in quant are just mediocre. Any quick tips to boost my score 10-20 points on test day? I will try with all my heart to avoid making silly mistakes which have killed my quant score on almost every practice test. Tomorrow is my last day of study, and I'm planning to focus ( as a wise man told me to do in this forum) on a couple or three exercise types, most probably coordinate planes and work problems, which are my weakest points.

My plan for Wednesday (test is on Thursday) was to not study at all and clear up my mind. Is that a good idea?

Thanks in advance guys, wish me good luck! :)

Hi ale_434,

With these latest CAT scores, you could easily be scoring 600+ right now. You've identified the primary reason that you are NOT though - silly mistakes. You don't need to be practicing co-ordinate geometry or work problems; those are relatively rare subjects that won't get you more points than you'll get by keeping the mistakes from happening.

You shouldn't do too much work in these last couple of days (NO CRAMMING!), but a bit of light practice, with an emphasis on good note-taking and accuracy, would be a good idea. Go into Test Day calm and well-rested and be prepared to work hard for 4 hours.

Yes: you've got this :)

If you want any last minute calming/focusing support, check out the sample tracks on our website - - it's 30 minutes of various parts of exercises which could be helpful for you to get into the best mindset - - even though there isn't a full exercise, folks benefit from the binaural beats, and calming/confidence building intentions imbued in the material.
